Now, following the success of the record's first single. "Late Night Drive", comes a 'summer mix' of the title track, "The Deep".
Written, arranged, and produced by Eric, "The Deep" revisits a familiar theme that has defined the guitarist throughout his career: love for his Alabama home, the South and gospel, jazz and blues music that was born there.
"The Deep" washes over the listener like a warm, Alabama summer day with its church inspired Hammond organ, pulsating 6/8 backbeat and laid back vibe. In the spirit of Southern culture, Eric takes his time with this one while skillfully articulating the melody and leaving plenty of space to experience the song's deliberate pace and phrasing. It is, by far, the most expressive track on the album. It is also the perfect vehicle for Eric to take the listener on a musical journey through his homeland with so much imagery and emotion, you'll feel like you're actually there.
