Known for creating music from a personal expression of his spirit, trumpet stylist Michael C. Lewis has released his new single "Fly Like an Eagle". The track features his soulful trumpet on top of a driving rhythm section. The track is highlighted by a creative arrangement in an infectiously funky rendition of this timeless classic!
Well entrenched in the worlds of Jazz, Soul, Funk, and Hip-Hop music, Michael has extensive credits, having performed with Hank Crawford, Jimmy Heath, Gregory Porter, Walter Beasley, Kirk Whalum, Patti Labelle, Isaac Hayes, De La Soul, Stetsasonic, and Wilson Pickett to name a few. He has also released two successful projects, Reflection (2010) and Intimate Journey (2018).
Born and raised in Houston Texas, Michael began playing the horn at 12 years of age. Michael now makes his home in Harlem, New York. He graduated from the prestigious Berklee College of Music and has a master’s degree in Jazz Studies from New York University. His influences include Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Donald Byrd, Marvin Gaye, Michael Henderson, Ronnie Laws, and The Crusaders.
