The original founding members of The Allen Carman Project are keyboard player extraordinaire, Philippe Saisse, legendary percussionist, Gumbi Ortiz, and Tampa Bay bassist, Allen Carman. The band’s mission was simple; to write and play good music with great players. To that end, The Allen Carman Project was lucky enough to have musical contributions from Mark Antoine, Rick Braun, Nile Rodgers, Andy Snitzer and Don Harrison on the band’s debut album, Carmanology. Now in the process of finishing the band’s second album, they have already released “Rosario”, their tribute to Gato Barbieri.
The new release “Straight Up” continues in the same style with a little more soul. “Straight Up” was written by Philippe Saisse and features Don Harris on trumpet and now full-time member, Kenny Anderson on sax. Together they bring the tight funky sound that Don’s former band, Tower of Power made famous. Enjoy the continued musicality of The Allen Carman Project with “Straight Up”.
