Alan Evans, multi instrumentista/compositor/ingeniero/productor de las bandas Soulive, Alan Evans Trio, Matador Soul Sounds, regresa con un nuevo sencillo "Good Thang" como su alter ego Crushed Velvet and the Velveteers en Vintage League Music. ‘Good Thang’ es un corte de funk de 3 minutos que cuenta con la potencia vocal Kim Dawson (Matador Soul Sounds, Pimps of Joytime) y Alan Evans en bajo, batería y guitarra. Este nuevo single se lanzó el 5 de junio y está siendo promocionado como un single de vinilo de 7 "distribuido mundialmente por Fat Beats. Con un álbum completo de Crushed Velvet y Velveteers en camino.
En 2008, mientras Soulive estaba de vacaciones, Alan pasó la mayor parte de su tiempo grabando y mezclando bandas de todo el mundo en su estudio de grabación del oeste de Massachusetts. “En mis días libres, iba al estudio y tocaba la guitarra. Antes de darme cuenta, tenía un montón de canciones que sabía que no eran canciones de Soulive. Parecía que tenía un álbum en camino, pero no quería publicarlo como Alan Evans. Así que se me ocurrió Crushed Velvet y los Velveteers. Grabo mucha música por mi cuenta tocando diferentes instrumentos, pero siento que tengo una personalidad diferente en guitarra, bajo, batería, etc. Crushed Velvet es mi alter ego de guitarrista”.
Alan lanzó el primer álbum de Crushed Velvet y Velveteers "The Big One" en mayo de 2011 como un álbum de banda sonora de una película conceptual. Desde entonces, Alan lanzó varios álbumes con Soulive, Alan Evans Trio, Matador Soul Sounds y comenzó Vintage League Music.
En 2020, Alan decidió revivir a Crushed Velvet y los Velveteers con algunos sencillos nuevos seguidos de un álbum de larga duración. El primer sencillo "Good Thang" es un instante creado para 45, toques de funk bloqueados por el trabajo de bajo, batería y guitarra de Alan Evans alias Crushed Velvet. In 2008, while Soulive was on break from touring, Alan spent most of his time recording and mixing bands from around the world in his Western Massachusetts recording studio. “On my days off, I would go into the studio and just play guitar. Before I knew it I had a batch of songs that I knew weren’t Soulive songs. It seemed I had an album on the way but I didn’t want to put it out as Alan Evans. So I came up with Crushed Velvet and the Velveteers. I record a lot of music on my own playing different instruments but I feel like I have a different personality on guitar, bass, drums, etc. Crushed Velvet is my guitar player alter ego.”
Alan released the first Crushed Velvet and the Velveteers album ‘The Big One’ in May 2011 as a concept movie soundtrack album. Since then, Alan has gone on to release several albums with Soulive, the Alan Evans Trio, Matador Soul Sounds as well as starting Vintage League Music.
In 2020, Alan has decided to bring Crushed Velvet and the Velveteers back to life with a few new singles followed by a full length album. The first single ‘Good Thang’ is an instant made for 45 funk cut locked down by Alan Evans aka Crushed Velvet’s bass, drums and guitar work. This soulful funk bed features vocalist Kim Dawson (Matador Soul Sounds, Pimps of Joytime) along with Evans’ musical cohorts Darby Wolf (DJ Williams Shots Fired, Rubblebucket) on organ, Pete Aleksi (Curtis Mayflower) playing 2nd guitar, Brian “BT” Thomas (Akashic Record, BT ALC Big Band) on trombone, Alex Lee - Clark (ALC Funktet, BT ALC Big Band) on trumpet, Tucker Antell (BT ALC Big Band) on alto and tenor saxophone and Jared Sims (BT ALC Big Band) on baritone saxophone.
